Looking at a Mafia Bomma and wondering how it compares with a Collective? Here they are side by side: the C100 V3 and C3 against the Mafia Bomma, spec for spec, with what each one does best.
The two brands set wheelie bikes up differently. The Bomma is a big BMX: rigid fork, BMX bar, a hydraulic rear brake and a cable brake at the front. The C100 is a 29-inch wheelie mountain bike with a suspension fork and hydraulic discs at both ends. Our C3 is the closer match to the Bomma, a 29-inch big BMX of our own. Which is right depends on how you ride.
Who wrote this. We make the C100 and C3, so we are not neutral. We have kept to facts you can check. Mafia specs and prices come from UK retailer listings on 19 October 2026 and can change, so check the retailer or Mafia before you buy. Mafia and Bomma are trademarks of their owner, and this page has no connection with them. Not sure which bike is a C100? It is a Collective bike, not a Mafia: see below.

Chapter 02
Wheelie MTB or big BMX?
The real choice comes before the brand.
A wheelie mountain bike like the C100 has a hardtail layout: a suspension fork, a flat bar on a short stem and gears for speed. It suits long wheelies, ride-outs, swerves and long days on the road. The fork softens the landing every time the front wheel comes down.
A big BMX like the C3 or the Bomma has BMX geometry stretched over big wheels: a rigid fork, a high-rise bar and a more upright position. It suits combos, surfing, manuals and tricks on pegs, and it feels more direct.
Both styles wheelie well. Choose the one that matches the riding you want to do most. Our wheelie bike buying guide goes deeper.
Chapter 03
C100 V3 vs Mafia Bomma
Different bikes for different riding.
Brakes. The C100 V3 has Shimano MT200 hydraulic discs at both ends. UK listings for the Bomma show the same MT200 at the rear and a cable side-pull brake at the front. For wheelies the rear brake does the work, but for stopping in traffic and on long ride-outs, a hydraulic front is a real difference.
Fork. The C100 has a 100mm suspension fork with lockout, so you can firm it up on smooth roads and open it for kerbs and rough ground. The Bomma has a rigid fork.
Price. The C100 V3 is £650. In the UK listings we checked, the OW Bomma 29 is £899 and the Bomma Traffic 27.5 is £699.
Tricks. The Bomma has peg mounts as standard and BMX geometry, which make combos easier. The C100 takes pegs once you fit the W2 wheelset or Hub 2 rear hub. If pegs and combos are what you are after, look at the C3.
Want a higher spec? The C100 Pro (£895) adds a RockShox Judy Silver fork, Shimano SLX 11-speed, Shimano Deore hydraulic brakes and Maxxis Grifter 29 x 2.50 tyres.
Chapter 04
C3 vs Mafia Bomma
Two 29-inch big BMX bikes, closely matched.
This is the like-for-like comparison. Both have a 6061-T6 aluminium frame, a rigid fork, 29 x 2.5in tyres, 10-speed gears, Shimano MT200 hydraulic brakes and peg mounts at the dropouts.
The differences: the C3 has a full chromoly fork, Maxxis Hookworm tyres, a Hollowtech bottom bracket and a 31-inch, 7-inch-rise bar, at £725. The OW Bomma 29 lists at £899 with Mafia's own Lagos Snakeskin tyres and a CNC chainring. The C3's pegs mount to its removable dropouts, not to the axle.
Chapter 05
Where Mafia is the better pick
An honest comparison says both sides.
- Smaller wheels. Mafia makes the Bomma in 26, 27.5 and 29-inch sizes. If you want a smaller complete bike, they have more choice. Our X1 frame takes 26 or 27.5-inch wheels if you are building one.
- Pegs out of the box. Every Bomma has peg-mount dropouts. On a Collective you choose the C3 for that, or upgrade the C100's rear wheel.
- Shops. Mafia is stocked in a lot of UK BMX shops. Collective sells direct and through independent dealers.
Chapter 06
Questions
Is the C100 a Mafia bike?
No. The C100 is designed by Collective Bikes in London. Mafia's nearest equivalent is the Bomma. People search for "Mafia C100" because both brands are popular for wheelies, but they are different companies.
Which is better for wheelies, the C100 or the Bomma?
Both wheelie well. The C100 suits long wheelies, ride-outs and speed, with a suspension fork and hydraulic brakes front and rear. The Bomma suits riders who want BMX geometry for combos and tricks on pegs. For that style, compare it with our C3.
What is the Collective alternative to the Mafia Bomma?
The C3: a 29-inch big BMX with a 6061-T6 aluminium frame, a chromoly rigid fork, Shimano CUES 10-speed, Shimano MT200 hydraulics, Maxxis Hookworm 29 x 2.5in tyres and peg mounts, at £725.
Can I put pegs on a C100?
Yes, once you fit a W2 wheelset or a Hub 2 rear hub with a 10mm through axle. The standard rear wheel is quick-release and doesn't take pegs.
What size bike do I need?
The C100 V3 and C3 come in one size, designed for riders from around 5ft upwards. Set the saddle and bar to suit the rider.
Do you deliver outside the UK?
Yes, across the UK mainland, to the USA mainland and to the rest of the world. See Delivery and Returns.
